Just a reminder that Prom Committee meets today at lunch in the seminar room in the library. All senior students welcome.
On Tuesday February 21st, the boys varsity hockey team played their first round playoff game against Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School. Alec Kilburn got the Vikings on the board early in the first period by finishing off a breakaway that was the result of an excellent Brad Coe pass. TAS answered with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead into the second but Kilburn scored again to cut the lead to 3-2 after 1 period. TAS opened up the second period with two more quick goals to stretch their lead to 5-2. Curtis Colbary brought the Vikings back one goal with help from Coe and Kilburn to end the second period down 5-3. Knowing that losing this game meant season over the Vikings rallied in spectacular fashion, playing an excellent two way period and applying constant pressure on the TAS net.
The hard work paid off as Hunter Baker scored on an awesome one-timer slap shot. Colbary added his second goal on a scramble around the net and Coe completed the comeback by notching the winner with 3 minutes to go. Dustin Hurley was rock solid in net over the the final minutes as TAS swarmed for the tying goal. Saving his best save for the final seconds, Hurley sprawled across the crease to smother the puck and seal the win! Brad Coe played an excellent game registering 4 assists to go along with his game winning goal. The Vikings advance to the second round which starts on Thursday, February 23rd at home.
Attention peer tutors: Mr. McCallum’s peer tutor in-school sessions are cancelled for today and moved to next week. Please check with Mr. McCallum later this week for the date.
The senior girl's volleyball team is asked to meet in room 304 at the beginning of lunch today. The meeting will be very brief.
Jazz Band rehearses today from 2:45 - 4:30 . Permission forms and money are needed for our Trip to Toronto tomorrow.
